Why did you choose to send your child there?
neighborhood school, educational philosophy, teacher quality
Northpoint preschool has a terrific cooperative spirit with parents helping in the classroom, as well as sharing information on local activities/parks/kindergartens, etc. The preschool bought the old Dash Point Elementary school, so the kids get real classrooms, bathrooms, and there is an outside playground w/big toy and tricycle path. The basement has a real kitchen so the kids have experimented with cooking apple pies and vegetable soup. The basement also has a playarea for when it rains. Because the 3-4-5 y.o. classroom is so large, there are many centers for art, tools, blocks, kitchen, dressup, sensory table, library, science, and a pet turtle and pet goldfish. The kids also learn to write letters, numbers, their names and cut out paper handouts to make their own books. The 2-3 y.o. classroom is also filled with centers for imaginary play, playdough, art, stamping, trucks, tools, trains, blocks, dolls, and a pet bunny. This preschool is affiliated with Bates and parents can attend parent seminars at Bates South campus.
Is there anything you don't like about this school?
No, it works for me.
Additional comments:
2-3 y.o.'s meet twice a week for 1 hr 45 minutes. 3-4-5 y.o. and pre-k meets 3 times a week for 2 hr 30 min.
