Why did you choose to send your child there?
neighborhood school, academics and/or test scores, educational philosophy, teacher quality
Arts-focused curriculum, generally a happy place to learn.
Is there anything you don't like about this school?
The building where the arts program is housed is very old. The district wanted to merge the school with Jefferson last year, and I'm not sure whether or not they've got a budget for building improvements since they decided to keep it open.
Additional Comments:
This is a wonderful school, we are very happy with it.

Is there anything you don't like about this school?
With a focus on expressive arts, they need a venue to celebrate that - a large auditorium with a stage, lights, and enough seating for parents and family.

Is there anything you don't like about this school?
When you enter this public school the students, parents, and staff make you feel welcome. The teachers teach through the arts as well as conventional methods. My two boys have been involved in before, during, and after school enrichment classes. Ie: tap, cello, ballet, book making, troubadours, dance company, drama, and clay club. I really like this school because parents are encouraged to be a part of the process. Through parent involment in PTA, school auction commitee, school/classroom volunteer, etc. Parents are encouraged to teach or team-teach an enrichment class.
Additional Comments:
This is an one of a kind public elementary in the great city of Tacoma. You just need to come by and ask for a tour and see for yourself why kids like to come to school everyday.
