You Don't Have to Choose:
Nurturing the Social And Intellectual Growth of Bright Adolescents
Presentation and Discussion with Sandi Wollum, Head of School
You have a bright, middle school child. You want to make sure your child is not bored at school, but you recognize this is also an important time to support your child's social and emotional growth. Sometimes parents feel like they have to choose between providing their child with academic challenges and social opportunities. But it is possible to give your child both. Join us for a discussion of the intellectual, social and emotional needs of highly capable adolescents. Look at what the Search Institute and other experts have to say about raising confident, competent, safe teens, and about what experts in gifted education have to say about keeping bright adolescents appropriately academically challenged. Discuss practical things you can do to support both the intellectual and the social/emotional development of your child. You really don't have to choose!
