University Place Pierce County Library grand opening Feb. 12

Be among the first to check out a book, read and learn on interactive computers, get help finding a job or starting a business, and discover more services at the new University Place Pierce County Library. The community is invited to participate in the grand opening of the University Place Library, at the Civic and Library Building at 3609 Market Place W., with a ribbon cutting and opening ceremony at 12 p.m.

The new 15,000 square foot library will offer spaces and places for people to learn, study and connect. The new space is 3,000 square feet larger than the original library.

From 80,000 books and other materials to high-tech offerings, the library will have something for everyone.

The opening will include local entertainment, local officials, photo ops with Lily the Ladybug Librarian, and free reusable book bags for the first 3,000 visitors, a gift from Pierce County Library Foundation. Opening day hours will run 12-5 p.m.
