This summer, Metro Parks Tacoma asked Gonyea Boys and Girls Club campers to design their vision of the new Kandle Park recreational pool. Project Manager Curtis Hancock chose one design from among many wonderfully creative offerings, which stood out for "the perfect combination of interactivity and randomness that makes a very popular toy."

Aspiring parks planner Daphne Daniel, a third grader at Grant Elementary (and my daughter :) received a certificate honoring her innovative sprayground design at last night's annual Gonyea Boys and Girls Club Thanksgiving dinner.

She's very proud.

Although Metro Parks will likely pass on her concept for a submersible whale ride, according to Hancock her design for interactive "spray dumpers" may be integrated into future spraygrounds in Tacoma and elsewhere.
