Clinic canceled due to vaccine shortage, however the Pierce County Health Department keeps an up to date list of stocked pharmacies online.

November 17 Update: "Due to the limited supply of vaccines, the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department has canceled the vaccination clinics on Saturday, Nov. 21 at Mount Tahoma High School and Saturday, Dec. 12 at Wilson High School from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department at 253.798.6500 or visit its Web site at www.tpchd.org."

UPDATE: Due to a shortage of vaccine, the Tacoma/Pierce County Health Department has changed the status of upcoming clinics to "Based on vaccine availability." Check the health department website the Friday before the clinic to verify availability.

The Tacoma Public Schools prepares for seasonal flu including H1N1

The flu season is expected to be highly active this year, and the health of our students is very important to us. The Tacoma Public Schools works closely with the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department on flu and other communicable diseases. As part of a cooperative effort, the Health Department is offering free H1N1 vaccination clinics on Saturday, Nov. 21 at Mount Tahoma High School and Saturday, Dec. 12 at Wilson High School from 9 a.m.–4 p.m.

Q&A about the vaccination clinics:
Q: Can any youth receive the vaccination?
A: Yes, vaccinations will be given to any student including those outside the TPS district, as well as child care providers.

Q: Can post-age students receive the vaccination?
A: Yes, between the ages of 18–24.

Q: What is the cost?
A: There is no cost. The vaccination is free.

Q: Will the district provide transportation?
A: No, the clinics are on a Saturday.

Q: Do parents have to be present for the student to receive the vaccination?
A: Yes, a parent or guardian must be present to give consent in order for the vaccination to be administered.
