TACOMA – Super Refund Saturday will take place Feb. 6 in Tacoma. The event, providing free tax preparation for qualified taxpayers, including eligibility for a tax refund through the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), will take place at Tacoma Goodwill’s Milgard Work Opportunity Center, 714 S. 27th St., from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Call Kim Houg, event site manager, at 253.573.6813 for information or an appointment. Child care is available.

Among the items participants are asked to bring include identification, wage and earning statements, a copy of last year’s federal and state returns if available. The Earned Income Tax Credit is available for people who make less than $43,279 a year ($48,279 if married filing jointly) to claim tax refunds up to $5,657. The IRS estimates 20-25 percent of those eligible don’t take it.

Free VITA tax preparation service will be available at Goodwill Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 9-April 15, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Milgard Center. Super Refund Saturday is co-sponsored by Goodwill and KeyBank with support from the Pierce County Asset Building Coalition and Tacoma Housing Authority.
