Sunset Terrace Park (122 Good Days in Tacoma)
Yesterday we went to a birthday party for one of our favorite little people at Sunset Terrace Park in University Place. Sunset Terrace is a great park. It's got a large playground, plenty of open grassy space to run, a baseball diamond, and a nice new picnic shelter with bbq facilities.
Everybody loves the seesaw. The springs give little kids a gentle ride and bigger people a bit more of a challenge.
The playground also has a large fake rock that's been graffitied over and over many times by local high school students, and a row of miniature pine trees that the kids love to duck behind and play hide and seek. The surface is wood chips, which can feel annoying under your sandals but really come in handy come the muddy season. This park still lacks plumbing (although there's a portable toilet) and it can be a bit windy up on the hill on S 19th, but other than that it's one of our favorite places.
