New kid's book blog from Tacoma journalist

News Tribune Children's Book Reviewer Rebecca Young has started a blog.

Young Books will feature reviews of new books at least once a week, and will also provide a vehicle to share news and links to other happenings of interest in the children's book world. Check recent entries to find out which books won the 2010 Newbery and Caldecott medals.

The blog format encourages interaction. Rebecca welcomes comments, book suggestions and questions from readers.

The blog came about in part because The News Tribune's latest round of belt-tightening, did away with four days of feature sections. The cuts included Tuesday, the day Sound Life focused on kid-related content like the Yo! page, the Breakfast serial, and Rebecca's weekly children's book reviews.

The book reviews will still run periodically on the front of Sunday's Sound Life sections. But Rebecca also wanted a way to continue to let readers of her column know about good children's books on a more frequent basis.
