Can I ask why you need an OB?
For a normal pregnancy and birth I would recommend a midwife.
Ob's are trained surgeons specializing in diagnosing and treating disorders and diseases. Completely unnecessary for the vast majority of pregnancies. In other many European countries you can't actually see an Ob unless there is a problem. The stats for Ob's and midwife's that cover birth are flipped over there with a majority of births being handled by midwives.
But I'm going off because I have no idea why you're requesting an Ob recommendation!
I would recommend Pearl Place Woman's Care: http://pearlplacewomenscare.com/
They have an Ob on staff and will refer you if you actually need one.
Good luck!

Dr. Sanford and Dr. Sarner at Pearl Place are great! Out of all the OB's I've worked with, I find that these women are the most caring and less clinical while being very capable doctors / surgeons!

Dr. Sanford is at Pearl Place Women's Care and she's got a good reputation. I've head Dr. Ho is another option.
I think every person is entitled to whoever they choose, just make sure you're a good fit. There are all kinds of care providers out there!
We should all do our homework surrounding pregnancy and birth and carefully choose our babycatchers. Read a good book like Ina May's Guide To Childbirth or the Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth. Get a doula and take a good childbirth class!

Karen Nelson, MD
Gets my highest recommendation!
Women to Women OB/GYN

Dr. Nelson delivered two of my children and many of my friends' children. She's very mellow, kind, approachable and has outstanding skills and an outstanding reputation to go with. When I was having babies #2 and #3, I asked friends who were OB nurses in Tacoma who they would go to and her name came up repeatedly.
She is just great.

Is this the office where you can't bring in your baby to your appointment?
I had a weird experience trying to get an IUD and went to an office on MLK, I was told I couldn't bring my 3 month old (who was nursing constantly and refusing a bottle, so it was impossible). It was really irritating.

No. I often (out of necessity) brought my two sons (ages 2 and 3) to my OB appointments.
There are a few toys and childrens books in the waiting room and my sons got stickers at the end of my appointment.
It's a very warm and friendly office.

Cool!
I wish I could remember the name of that office, there can't be too many on MLK! It was the strangest policy, I think their reasoning for keeping kids out of the office was not to expose pregnant woman to viruses!
Of course they also kept babies out, which is just strange and bizarre for an ob's office if you ask me. Enough to send me running out of there!
