Learning with Your Whole Self:
Enriching Experiences for Young Learners
Panel Discussion
Sandi Wollum, Head of School and Seabury's PreKindergarten/ Kindergarten Teaching Team
"My child makes up wonderful, complex stories, but gets frustrated with writing because it takes so long."
"My child wants to learn everything there is to know about volcanoes, but doesn't read on her own yet."
Preschool and kindergarten age children learn with their whole bodies. Bright young children are especially hungry to explore big ideas and complex concepts, but can be frustrated when their reading and writing skills aren't as advanced as their curiosity and intellectual development. Providing learning experiences that emphasize exploration, discovery and doing are critical to keep highly capable preschool and kindergarten children engaged, challenged and in love with learning at school. And recognizing the potential frustrations caused by the asynchronous development of young gifted children is critical to developing their strengths. Learn strategies for supporting your bright preschool / kindergarten child's love of learning and discovery.
