Le-Le (A Little Blue Sky On Hilltop)

Surely not here, you say. Well, you have to use your imagination a little, but if you concentrate Le-Le almost feels like an outdoor garden cafe.

Hats hang from the ceiling, which is painted blue with white clouds, and tropical plants stand every 8 or 9 feet. It's brighter and larger than I remember it looking before the remodel, the last time I was there. (Service was friendlier, too.) Maybe a little over the top but great medicine for a gray rainy week.

Le-Le is a Vietnamese restaurant on MLK, in the Hilltop neighborhood. Although this week I had a bowl of soup, their menu is far broader than the little Pho cafes that also dot the area. My spicy beef soup had great flavor, and our chicken sate appetizer was also definitely above average. My daughter was a big fan of the large flat screen tv, which happened to be playing Nickelodeon for a young member of the owner's family. (But if you sit on the other side of the restaurant you'd never notice it.) I haven't really had a chance to fully explore the menu at Le-Le yet, but I'm looking forward to the opportunity to come back and enjoy a little more blue sky.

I was there about a year ago and we had their Thai offerings, yellow curry and swimming rama maybe? The service wasn't the best but the food was pretty tasty, though not tasty enough to drive to Hilltop very often.

I love Le-Le. We go there about once a week. We have tried a whole bunch of different things from the menu and have not been disappointed.

The service has seemed to get better over the last 6 months or so. More friendly. The food is always served quickly there, so that is not a problem.

I'm pretty picky with my food and get icked out pretty easily. I've never had this problem at Le-Le's. The food is always fresh and the meat is clean (one of my biggest problems at restaurants).

I highly recommend Le-Le's. Everyone we have taken there has loved it.
