Java Fusion (229 Good Days in Tacoma: Vivace Coffee in T-town!)

update: Java Fusion no longer serves Vivace coffee.

I read something recently over at a local forum (thought it was Exit 133 but I can't find the post now) about Seattle's actual best coffee at a Tacoma cafe.

In the name of "research," I was forced to visit Java Fusion twice in two days. The space is nice, so nice in fact that it gives one the impression of being a much larger company than the single locally-run operation that it is. This could backfire in Tacoma, but I'm hoping that it doesn't so we can keep satisfying our Vivace jones locally. There's a chess table, plenty of room to study or meet with a book or craft club, and live music on Friday nights from 7-9 pm.

Did I mention they serve Vivace espresso? Yesterday's latte was awesome. Perfectly smooth with no hint at all of bitterness, as only Vivace can be. Today there were different baristas on hand, and my white mocha was a little too heavy on the flavor for my taste, but I suppose that's what I get for ordering a frou frou drink. My husband found his breve to have just a hint of bitterness to it, at first. We'll just have to keep "researching" their espresso drinks until we're sure they've got it right.

Great hours, too!
