Ethnic Fest Poster Contest Recognizes Student Talent

Ethnic Fest 2013 will be held on July 27 and 28 in Tacoma’s Wright Park. In preparation for this annual celebration of culture and community, all Pierce County high school students are invited to participate in the Ethnic Fest Poster Contest.

In addition to the pride and recognition gained by participating in the contest, cash prizes will be awarded to the top three student artist winners.

The Grand Prize winner’s artwork may be used on select Ethnic Fest marketing and promotional materials. It will be displayed in a prominent location at Ethnic Fest. The first-place winner will be awarded $200. Second- and third-place winners’ artwork may also be used in the aforementioned manner, for which they will be compensated $100 (2nd Place) and $50 (3rd Place).

The poster contest is open to all Pierce County high school students. Submissions must be received by 4:30 pm on Thursday, May 2, 2013.

The 2013 poster contest includes cash prizes, thanks to Jerry McLaughlin, a retired owner of JayRay Communications who has sponsored the contest for the past six years.

Since 1986, Ethnic Fest has grown to become the largest celebration of culture and community in Tacoma, with an estimated attendance of over 60,000 participants. Voted the best festival of the South Sound, this year Ethnic Fest takes place Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28 from noon to 7 pm at historic Wright Park in Tacoma, WA. This family-friendly, free festival has grown in size over the years and hosts Kid’s Zones, multiple stages, as well as numerous specialty arts and crafts, food and information vendor booths.
