A Doctor You Actually Like?
Hi everyone,
I'm searching desperately for just a general practitioner. I don't have a primary care doctor here in Tacoma and although my past method is to randomly pick one that my insurance covers, I thought I'd see if someone has a doctor that they would recommend.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. If I could go to some of the pediatric doctors you guys suggested, I would!

I was asking a friend whose husband is a doctor (not in general practice, unfortunately) this very question the other day. She recommended the three women at this Multicare clinic. She said they are relatively fresh out of residency and building their practice, but this can actually be a good thing. Her husband worked with them and she likes them all. It's the Multicare at S 23rd and Union, near Target. I haven't tried them yet, so it's all hearsay.
Hope that helps.

Dr. June Taheri (formerly Dr. June Boonploog) is an internist at the Multicare clinic at Allenmore Medical Center Bldg C 3124 S 19th St.
First off, there's nothing better than having an Internist as your G.P.
I've recommended her to my own friends and we all agree that she's provided us with very thorough care. She takes the time to really listen, asks all the right questions, is conservative with treatment and drugs, and happens to be kind and funny - a nice bonus. She's helped us figure out serious conditions and has assured us with facts when there's no reason to worry.

What about any recommendations for a naturopath or homeopath? I had a great one where I used to live, but haven't explored the hippie side of healthcare out here in Tacoma... any leads?

Hi again. I posted the info about Dr. Taheri. Here is a link to a Naturaopathic Physician, Dr. Rivers, who was recommended to me quite highly by several friends who are long-time patients. She's very thorough in her sleuthing to find the root of all health issues. She will also work with your western doctors (and their test results) to provide natural options & she's affordable. I also know of her successfully treating a child's heath issues which had been leaving his doctors frustrated and without solutions. http://www.tacomanatural.com/index.html

I really like Jessica Fahey (nurse practioner) at Advanced Women's healthcare - 26th & Pearl. I'm not crazy about the practice, it's regular providers plus spa services. Kind of a cool idea but a little weird to go in when you're sick and have others in the waiting room be there for a facial. Not a biggie though, and worth it for me anyway. I had a hard time finding a female provider that had available appts - I always get in quickly.

Thank you all for your suggestions. It's made me feel a lot better about making calls. The one downside is that all of the doctors that I called today were booking out a month or so. So, tomorrow, I am going to try calling the Advanced Women's Health.
After that...on to the NDs. My insurance is a little more difficult about the NDs, but I love them!
Thanks again! I'll report back with my findings!
