Dentist Recommendation

I need a good kid's dentist for my youngest. Does anyone have a recommendation? Affordability is key, to the extent that's even possible. (I don't want to go the Community Services route)

Edited to add:

Thanks for the recommendation. I ended up taking her to "Affordable Dental Care" - the last dentist I had been to. They were very nice, and did a great job with her although they aren't a pediatric practice per se.

Of course, the big test will come next month when she gets her three (3!) cavities filled for........$480. Gulp. I'm still a little traumatized, and I didn't even get a new toothbrush.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Benjamin Sun. He's in practice with Dr. Jeffery Camm, but I'm not sure what their practice is called. It's a pediatric dentist practice and they are WONDERFUL with kids!! Dr. Sun is amazingly patient and gentle, even with the little ones (I started taking mine at around 9 months), and the kids always seem happy to be there. A basic checkup is $100, or at least that's what it's been for us. The phone number is 564-2222 and they're in Fircrest.

We go to Dr. Camm and I can't say enough great things about him and his practice!!! Two of our three have had to have fillings and our eldest is phobic of needles. Dr. Camm has managed to "put sparkles" on our kids' teeth without them even knowing that they were being filled. It was magic and they actually look forward to visiting the dentist.

Amazing. The waiting room is the best playplace anywhere and the exam and procedure rooms look like a fanciful place to play -- not scary or clinical at all.

Call for the pricing, it seems to be about right to me but I can't remember exact prices....

Good luck!!

I wonder how much of a pain it would be to get her x-rays sent over. It would be nice to send her to a pediatric dentist to get the actual work done.

I think it's easy to get x-rays sent to another dentist or to just pick them up and hand deliver them. However, I have heard that Dr. Camm is not taking new patients. I am also presently looking for a dentist to fill my son's cavities. I hope most dentists these days do composite fillings.

This one (Affordable Dental Care) gave me the option of metal or composite. (For more money) it's another $40 per filling, but no way am I putting mercury in my kid's head.

Another vote for Dr. Sun! I took my 3yr old daughter to her first dental appointment this week. Dr. Sun & the entire staff were great. As Dr. Sun checked my daughters teeth, he sang a little song...very sweet & calmed her right down. After her appointment was over...she didnt want to leave.

Dr. Sunn in Firecrest is awesome. I took my 21 mth old there and he and the staff were fantastic. I was so glad I took my son. Dr. Sunn was able to get in there and clean off the plaque on the front of his teeth. He had me hold my son facing me and then laid his head down in his lap - it totally worked and he was able to get into his mouth. They are awesome!!!
