Neighborhood Espresso has closed.
It's finally open! At long last, McKinley gets another coffee shop. A very nice one, too. Neighborhood Espresso has comfortable couches and chairs arranged around a fireplace, places to sit and look out the window, a broad window seat to stretch out on with the paper while you wait for your drink, and smooth Dillano's coffee. (For a little back story on this place, check out Scott Fontaine's Word on the Street blog at the Trib.)
Today, they're offering an opening day special of 20 ounce drinks for the price of 16, and a free cookie with the purchase of a latte. A case full of fresh pastry awaits your order. Their credit card machine is not working today, so bring cash.
With all those specials, we were able to order a giant soy latte, chocolate milk, and a cookie. I can't speak to how the chocolate milk and cookie were, although I heard no complaints, but the latte was smooth and just the right temperature. If you have a chance for a coffee break today, head up McKinley Hill and give them a shot, they're only a very short drive past the Dome.
