Today is the annual Sukiyaki Dinner at the Tacoma Buddhist Temple, downtown at Fawcett and S. 17th. You will probably never see a more interesting cross section of Tacomans than the turn out for this event. We sat next to an older woman from Steilacoom who has been coming for more than a decade, and took in the crowds of families, tattooed young'uns and senior citizens, of all different persuasions.
So that you don't make the same mistake we did, head to the ATM before you go. (The closest one is all the way down at the convention center) Sukiyaki is 10.00 a person, 8.00 for chicken dinners, and a few less expensive side dishes. The kids each enjoyed a 3.00 beef kabob. Everything smelled and tasted wonderful. Take out is available, too.
The dinner ends at 4 pm today, so there's still plenty of time to get down there and check it out.
(I almost forgot to credit Exit 133, for mentioning it earlier this week.)
