City of Tacoma Declares March 17, 2013 University of Puget Sound Day

City of Tacoma has declared March 17, 2013, as “University of Puget Sound Day” in honor of the university’s founding on that day 125 years ago. 

At the council’s meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 19, Mayor Marilyn Strickland read a proclamation detailing the rationale for a commemorative day to mark Puget Sound’s founding in 1888.

Book Reading- Nine by Three: Stories

The reading by Beverly Conner, Hans Ostrom, and Ann Putnam will be followed by a reception and book signing. The event is presented by Collings Memorial Library (Collins Press) and the Department of English. Special 9/11 worship service at Immanuel Presbyterian Church

The University of Puget Sound and Immanuel Presbyterian Church has created a series of events to help Tacomans remember and look forward to on the 10th aniversary of September 11, 2001.

The special worship service with Imam Jamal Rahman, Rabbi Ted Falcon and Pastor Don MacKenzie preaching. Together they are known as the three Interfaith Amigos and are publishing their second book this fall.

The service will be held at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 901 N. J St., tomorrow from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
