Tacoma KOMO reports, Point Defiance Zoo vetrinarians report deadly toxins created by intestinal bacteria killed the zoo's endangered Sumatrian tiger cub, Mali earlier this summer.
The one-year-old cub died in late July after undergoing emergency surgery and cardiac arrest, according to the zoo.
Necropsy results released last week showed toxins in Mali's intestines, kidneys, and bloodstream overpowered her body which stopped her heart.
