Pierce County Auditor Answers Questions About August Primary

If you have questions about the upcoming primary election, you’re not alone.

Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 is Election Day. On July 12, 2012, every household will be mailed a Pierce County Official Local Voters’ Pamphlet. On July 20, 2012 the Auditor will mail a primary ballot to all registered voters (military and overseas voters were mailed on June 22). The pamphlet and the ballot always prompt questions.

Whooping Cough on the Rise

In Pierce County and across the State health officials continue to see a high rate of whooping cough cases. Along with the State, the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department is very concerned about the rates of pertussis in our county.

To date in 2012, there have been 90 confirmed cases of pertussis in Pierce County residents.  For comparison, in 2011 there were 128 cases the entire year, and in 2010 there were 84 cases.

'Tow to Go' program will get you, your car home in Pierce County

More than a dozen towing companies in Pierce County this holiday season are taking part in a program called “Tow to Go” where drivers who have had too much to drink can get a free tow and ride home.

The program started Dec. 17 and it runs through the New Year. The tow truck operators will take drivers and their car home as long as they live within 10 miles of the bar.
