Foss Waterway Seaport Museum and Winterfest - This Weekend!

Last week, we took advantage of the extra time off from school and checked out the new Foss Waterway Seaport Museum (formerly the Working Waterfront Museum) on Dock Street. We had a great time at the latest addition to Tacoma's museum lineup, making wooden boats and checking out the science-y "Finding Your Way" exhibit on loan from the Exploratorium.

Children's Museum of Tacoma (201 Good Days in Tacoma: A More Active Children's Museum of Tacoma)

Yesterday we had a chance to visit the newly remodeled Children's Museum of Tacoma. The all-new exhibits focus on active play and nutrition, and appeal to a wider age range than previous installations.

Anderson Island Adventures (Part II) (260 Good Days in Tacoma)

After our hike at Andy's Marine Park, we piled our muddy selves back into the car and drove over to the Old School House at Wide Awake Hollow. The kids had spotted it on the way to the park, and it served as a nice carrot on the trail back. This one room school house remained in operation until the late 1960s, when the Anderson Island school district joined with the Steilacoom schools.
