For more than twenty-five years, the illustrations in the "Extraordinary Mysteries of Harris Burdick" by Chris Van Allsburg have intrigued and entertained readers of all ages. Thousands of children have been inspired to weave their own stories to go with these enigmatic pictures. Now, fourteen great storytellers were invited to spin the tales for "The Chronicles of Harris Burdick", an incredible compendium of stories: mysterious, funny, creepy, poignant, that won’t soon be forgotten

Peter Fletcher, classical guitarist at the Main Library

Award-winning classical guitarist and recording artist Peter Fletcher began guitar study at the age of 7 under classical guitar instructor John Sutherland. In December, 1983, he made his formal debut at the age of fifteen under the auspices of The Brasstown Concert Association in North Carolina. Fletcher has studied extensively with world renowned classical guitarists such as Jose Tomas, David Leisner, David Russell, Oscar Ghiglia and Pepe Romero. In 1995, he received the Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music under Nicholas Goluses, and was twice the recipient of an Eastman Graduate Award.

Famed wildlife photographer Art Wolfe has chosen one hundred of his favorite photographs of dogs- including shots from every continent of the world-and teamed up with bestselling animal writer Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson to create a remarkable book that will be treasured by dog lovers far and wide.

From Tibet to New York City, from Mongolia to Paris, Peru, and Ghana-in fact everywhere on earth, we see dogs living with humans in a kind of intimacy not found with any other animal. It is impossible to view these astonishing photographs without agreeing with Masson and Wolfe that there is no other relationship in nature quite like that between dogs and humans.
