Giant Burgers Invade South Tacoma Way

My big girl's birthday is so close to the holidays that we usually just have a small family celebration and hold off on the party until around the end of January.

Somehow, this tradition has become an excuse to say yes to things we would not subject friends and their children to.

Thrill of the Grill

A new lunch spot on Tacoma Ave serves up standard American fare at family-friendly prices.

Low prices and simple but good food make it worth checking out this little 50s style burger joint. "Thrill of the Grill" has replaced the little taco stand near the hilltop, downtown. The menu is pretty basic: burgers, natural cut french fries, hot/corn dogs, shakes and fountain drinks.

Flipping Out

Flipping Out provides a great alternative to corporate fast food joints: great burgers, friendly service and free ice cream for the kids. Other bonuses include fresh ground beef and natural cut French fries.

Freighthouse Square Food Court (313 Good Days in Tacoma: Everyone Gets What They Want)

Despite our best efforts, we seem to have produced in one of our children that most dreaded of characteristics: the picky eater. Miss Picky Pants, as we like to call her, has sat through more than one restaurant meal with one or two beige items on her extra plate (we've learned not to actually purchase food for her) pretending to eat them while using them as ketchup shovels.

Engine House Number 9

My fellow Tacomans, I am tired, tired of the snow, I say.

We went to Engine House Number 9 for lunch today, we ate many many fried things, I feel better.
