Pierce County Auditor Answers Questions About August Primary

If you have questions about the upcoming primary election, you’re not alone.

Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 is Election Day. On July 12, 2012, every household will be mailed a Pierce County Official Local Voters’ Pamphlet. On July 20, 2012 the Auditor will mail a primary ballot to all registered voters (military and overseas voters were mailed on June 22). The pamphlet and the ballot always prompt questions.

TV Tacoma to carry “VA News” and “The Field Report”

TV Tacoma will add two more programs to its lineup starting June 1, 2012 – the “VA News” and “The Field Report”.  The new programming will broadcast Tuesday through Sunday on TV Tacoma each week.

“VA News” is a weekly program designed to provide timely news and information about the Department of Veteran Affairs and the many programs and services available to American Veteran’s. “The Field Report” is produced at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and will give viewers insight into events and activities of Tacoma’s closest military neighbor.

Jeannie Darneille and Laurie Jinkins’ Campaigns to Raise Whooping Cough Awareness

Washington State is experiencing an epidemic of Whooping Cough with disease rates higher than they have been in 60 years. The political campaigns of  Rep. Jeannie Darneille and Rep. Laurie Jinkins are declaring the month of May 27-June 30 “Whooping Cough Awareness Month”.  They will be distributing information about the epidemic as well as the importance and availability of vaccinations as they canvass neighborhoods and through their social media outlets.

Whooping Cough Epidemic Rising, More Vaccination Clinics Scheduled

The whooping cough epidemic is still on the rise. Prevention, prevention, prevention is the key.

 

To date in 2012, there have been 206 confirmed cases of pertussis in Pierce County residents.  For context, in 2011 there were 128 cases the whole year, and in 2010 there were 84 cases.
