This fall you are invited to participate in Metal-Urge, a Tacoma-wide celebration of the metal arts. Metal-Urge includes 24 metal arts events, 10 metal arts workshops, and 22 venues exhibiting the metal work of over 75 talented regional artists and includes jewelry, sculptures, vessels, home décor, enamel, and artifacts.

Come see the spaces in and tools with which 61 Tacoma artists create their work. Ask questions, purchase one-of-a-kind creations, and even try your hand at creating your own masterpiece. All studios will feature demonstrations of the artistic process or will have hands-on activities for visitors. This is a free, self-guided tour and runs October 11 & 12, 11 am - 5 pm.

Come see what's under the sea!Join Pierce County parks & Recreation's Companionship Program along the water on Ruston Way at Les davis Pier. We will be exploring animals, creatures, rocks and shells from the bottom of Puget Sound. Watch our scuba diving friends get geared up and go underwater to find things for us to touch and hold in sensory bins on the beach. See what it is like to dive under the water of the sound. our scuba friends will have a waterproof camera and will show us the footage when they are done!

Annie Wright Schools Announce Year-Round Learning Program for Early Childhood

Annie Wright Schools announced changes that impact the schools’ Early Childhood program for boys and girls,
ages three to five. Beginning with the 2014-2015 academic year, Preschool and
Prekindergarten will be offered year-round, only closing on major holidays,
with no impact to the current tuition costs.

Summer Storytime at the Cabin

The Job Carr Cabin Museum invites children ages 3 to 8 and their families to Summer Storytime! Every Wednesday during the summer, we will host a storyteller, followed by an activity. Each week is a different theme for maximum fun. Summer Storytime is completely free, but a $1 donation is encouraged. We hope to see you there!
