Model Train Festival at Washington State History Museum

Just in time for the holiday season, the Washington State History is holidng its 17th Annual Model Train Festival, extended through Christmas for the first time and offering new attractions. Held at the history museum, located at 1911 Pacific Avenue, the festival will take over every floor to create the largest permanent model train layout in the state.

Group Health Cooperative is hosting a special screening of the newest most successful drama series on BBC, Call the Midwife. The series has been more successful that Downtown Abbey in the UK and was just recently introduced in the U.S.

 TACOMA, WA (October 17, 2012) - Local students of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) have organized a workshop with Gary Renard, best-selling author of The Disappearance of the Universe  (Hay House 2004) and Your Immortal Reality (Hay House 2006) and long-time teacher of the Course.  Gary will be presenting an all day workshop called “Miracles in the Northwest” at the University of Washington Tacoma campus on Saturday November 10, 2012, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Make-A-Wish Washington is hosting its 4th annual Walk for Wishes on September 23, 2012 from 8:45 a.m. to noon at Marymoor Park in Redmond. This 5k walk and fun run is a family-friendly event that will generate funds to help grant the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions. Food, beverages and family entertainment provided! Registration is free but a minimum $100 fundraising goal is encouraged for each participant to support future wish granting.

Tacoma Rainiers Turn Back Tickets

The Tacoma Rainiers, in an effort to thank the City of Tacoma and Rainiers fans all over the South Sound, are lowering prices in a big way on select dates during the team’s final homestand of the season. 

 

From Monday, August 29 through Wednesday, August 31, a new generation of Rainiers fans will pay a former generation’s price of admission. All children 12 years of age and younger can come to a Rainiers game for just 50 cents, the same price as a ticket during Cheney Stadium’s inaugural season in 1960.

'Bad Hair Bandit' arrested in California

The News Tribune reports, the 'Bad Hair Bandit', the notorious Tacoma bank robber, was arrested Monday in California, shortly after a bank robbery. 

Pierce County Sheriff Office reports they took Cynthia Van Holland, and her alleged getaway driver, Christopher Alonzo, into custody after the woman passed a note to a teller demanding money at a Bank of the West branch in Auburn, California.
