Come down to celebrate Tacoma's first Bike Corral! The Red Hot and New Belgium present ReCYCLE The Bike Night. Catch Clips of Fatih, a collection of bike-centric hom spun independent short films. Be entered to win prizes, including a custom-made cruiser! Films start at 8:00 pm. This event is 21+ only.

Tacoma students star in Earth Day art contest

More than 140 students from throughout Tacoma entered this year’s EnviroChallenger/EnviroKids Earth Day art contest. Elementary and middle school students were asked to illustrate a positive environmental behavior that they’ve learned from the City’s EnviroChallenger educators regarding surface water, wastewater or solid waste.

The themes of the entries received included the 5 Rs, recycling, washing your car on the lawn, picking up trash and protecting storm drains, just to name a few.

TV Tacoma will broadcast replays of the Grand Floral Parade

Public Health Week 2012: Communicable Disease Control

This week Pierce County Health Department has been sharing stories about staff members at the health department to commerate National Public Health Week 2012. 

Jeni Nybo's public health journey started in 2000 as a Family Based Nurse but for the past two years she have been fortunate to work as a Nurse Epidemiologist within the Communicable Disease Prevention Division. Communicable diseases have always interested her. Some have been controlled by vaccinations, sanitation and modern technology, while others are emerging or resistant to drug treatment.
