In my zeal to get people to sign the Healthier School Lunch petition, I feel like we're missing some background on what's going on in Tacoma's school cafeterias.
The Tacoma Public Schools released a new report today on the state of the district's math program, including a recommendation to adopt new curricula at the elementary and middle school level.
The Women's Sports Foundation is hosting a Leadership Institute on April 29th from 9am-2pm. Representatives and leaders from girl-serving organiztions are invited to attend and learn about the free award-winning curriculum, how to implement, available funding ($100,000 to be given away in 2010), how to get successful athletes involved in your programs, and more. Mark your calendars and tell your friends about the upcoming Healthy Kids and Green Parenting Fair, sponsored by the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. This year's fair will be held on Saturday, March 20th, 2010. It will be in the auditorium at the South Park Community Center (4851 South Tacoma Way) and will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
